W.R. Tunnicliff proprietor of the Canada Lake House business card. The Canada Lake House was built in 1866 by Governor Claflin. It was managed at the beginning by W. R. Tunnicliff. The hotel burnt in 1884. It was replaced in 1892 by the Auskerada. It should not be confused with the Canada Lake House /Fulton Hotel.

"Auskerada Hotel, at Auskerada Lake (formerly Canada Lake, Fulton Co. N.Y." card has been annotated with date of 1902. Alfred Dolge attempted to develop the area around the Lake, and created in 1897 the Auskerada Park Club. As part of this development, he renamed the Lake, Auskerada, a fictitious Indian chief whose name translated as "the chief who catches many fishes." After the failure of Dolges' venture, the name of the Lake. reverted to Canada Lake.

Illustration on page 159 of McMartin'e Caroga book. It is a real photo postcard. Note how the font in the caption is the same used in other Canada Lake real photo postcards, especially the Teich cards. There is no doubt that this was the source for the Teich "Lake Side Drive" card. The automobile was added.
